Hello/Bonjour Guy, I find your site quite by accident after someone had sent me a clip of a video about Montreal & Verdun. It was so nice to see all those pictures that brought back memories that I thought I had forgotten. I spent my childhood in Verdun and although I don't have many pictures from that time, I do remember playing down by the river, just west of the Auditorium, under the boats that were stored there. Also I remember many summers walking along the boardwalk and going to the Natatorium. Many days were spent in the park near Lasalle & Galt I think. We were taught so many fun things, like arts & crafts and outings. I don't think they do that in parks anymore. It's a shame. It kept us busy, having fun and not getting into trouble as kids. If I find any old photos, I'll send them along. I lived at 91 Gordon Avenue. The old house was torn down some years ago and rebuilt but they kept most of the facade.

Guy, Thank you for all the information on Verdun. We're hoping to open a theatre in Verdun soon for plays, arts, music and I was wondering if you knew when the last play was performed in Verdun. It's something we'd like to celebrate. You can reply to www.verdunarts.com

William,
No. 107 - 3rd ave. would be between LaSalle blvd and Wellington on the east side (right) on the map. I can take a photo of the house on my next trip to Verdun wich I can send you if you give me your internet number.
I would certainly like to see your grandmother's photos wich you can share with us wich would also be a jewEl for our archves (SHGV). One of the Presbytarian churches was situated at 503 - 5th ave. and I have a 1930 photo of the church wich burnt down in 1994 of wich I also have a photo of the fire.

Steve,
Pacific is now called Lafleur street and is a short street that starts at the intersection of Wellington and LaSalle and goes towards the river.
